PPANJ CONVENTION '08!!!!

Professional Photographers of New Jersey held their 55th annual convention in Atlantic City this past weekend. It was a wonderful convention full of education and fun. We got the opportunity to listen to wonderful speakers such as Jeff & Julia Woods and Angela Carson. All of these amazing photographers shared with us great ideas in marketing, client relations, and of course photographic style. Listening to them really seals the quote of Knowledge is Power. Everyone no matter the age, time in the industry, professional or not should never stop learning and sharing their knowledge.

At night John, Cara, and myself got the chance to mingle with colleagues in our association celebrating those that achieved excellence this year. As always it was a great time to see everyone at our convention and have some fun!

So, I may have told them that it wouldn't be up so soon, but what can I say, Marissa and I had so much fun with these guys (even if we were semi-stalked by a creepy Seaside Boardwalk patrol guy in a golf cart)! I felt inspired, so here are some of the images. :-)

So I recently became aware of a new (or at least new to us) website for brides called

weddingwire.com. I knew nothing about it until Liz Gaynor (our wonderful Christmas bride of 07) wrote a really awesome review about us on it! It really, really means a lot to us when brides let us know that we helped make their day special. Thanks so much Liz for being such a great bride on your wedding day and sharing with us!!

Alexis & Milton

To kick off our wedding season we photographed Alexis and Milton on March 8. Alexis was a radiant bride and Milton looked very handsome and star struck when he saw his bride walk down the aisle. They both had great families that came together as one to celebrate the bride and groom!

Even though the weather was not ‘perfect’, they would not let anything get in the way of celebrating their love. In the storm we still went out on the boardwalk to take some awesome beach pictures. Later that night, when the storm cleared we continued to photograph at dusk so that they would still be able to get their dream beach shots! We had a fantastic time photographing this special couple and we hope everyone enjoys their images as much as we do!

So Marissa, Cara and I (Vanessa) just photographed a wedding on Saturday and it was beautiful! Gorgeous weather for March and a great location at Georgian Court too.

Everyone knows that Heyn's is as much a family as a business, some of us have been here for ten years and others, like me, have only been here a short time. I started working for Heyn last February as a secretary. I answered phones, moved boxes...tried to organize Heyn's desk (still trying...). Then I was helping at weddings. Mostly moving bags at first and now I'm known mostly as the one who makes the slideshows :)

From day 1 John, Vanessa and Marissa gave me a camera and said "Go shoot people!"... and since my very first wedding last March to the weddings I help out at now I've learned so much, grown so much and I can never thank you guys enough!

I made you guys a little show of the beginning to the current to just say thanks for a great year and I hope to have many more to come! I can see improvement from first to last, and I know I'm only going to keep improving with the crew here to guide me :)

Baby Love

I would love to introduce everyone to Baby Max also know as Boo Boo Bunny to his loving parents. This cute little ‘bunny’ had his first big time photo shoot last week. It was hard not to fall head over heals with this little guy, however I found myself completely captivated by his cute little personality. This was an exciting and new step in my photographic career. It’s always good to be inspired to try something new.

Jessica and Steve were a couple of familiar faces...the bride and her sister went to school with one of our photographers! Also, the best man was one of our grooms from this summer! Jessica was simply breath-taking and her smile could warm your heart. It may have been January outside, but around this couple you could swear you were looking at springtime :)

Justin & Gen

Again I had the privledge of photographing someone that I know personally. Gen and Justin had an awesome winter wedding this past Friday and it was so awesome to see them so in love and making such a powerful commitment to one another!

Justin surprised Gen by playing a recording of himself singing their song, Only Fools Rush In, during their first dance...And on that note, I decided to set their slideshow to an awesome song sung by none other than my dad!! :-) Why not keep with the originality of their day, right?
