Andrea & Lee

Lee and Andrea had quite the day! Perfect weather, perfect location, perfect family...perfect wedding. The Water's Edge is one of our favorite locations, right on the beach and that great window provides for endless photo opportunities (as you'll see!). The 25th was really a marathon day for Heyn Photography with the girls shooting Alicia Walker and John and Janelle shooting Andrea and Lee...then John hopping onto a plane for Alaska less than three hours after the weddings ended! (And he managed to get us the pictures so we could get the slideshows made!)

As John was running out the door and was telling us about Andrea's day he couldn't stop telling us how much fun they were! Laughter and smiles were the words of the day and we hope that you guys have many more smiles and years of laughter ahead of you!

Alicia and Dan

We here at Heyn Photography have developed a little group of beloved fans we affectionately call our Blog Stalkers. This weekend our bride actually wanted to go down on her posting as a devoted stalker and so, Alicia, here's to you :)

Like many of our stalkers Alicia realized that some of the shots she wanted required showing some leg, stretching into weird positions, jumping into the air and other such feats...and she jumped through every hoop we threw at her and boy can you tell in the photos. We even had Vanessa go to shoot Dan and his boys while Marissa and Cara took care of Alicia and the girls as they all got ready. Later in the day we got to ride in the trolley with the wedding party as we headed over to Jenks for some boardwalk shots. Not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES people on the boardwalk asked the photographers if we were shooting for a magazine...how's that for a compliment, Alicia?

After Jenks it was off the the Shadowbrook and their gorgeous grounds. At the reception we even ran into an old bride (and an old friend) Kristin DelPino (nee McKelvey) who recognized one of the brides on our new business card as herself!

Alicia, beloved stalker, we hope that your day, your slideshow, your wedding album and your marriage are everything you could ever want them to be :)

Behind the Scenes

Over the past couple of weeks we've accumulated quite the collection of candids...of ourselves! Sometimes you just can't help but take a picture of your co-worker doing what they do best :) Thought some of you would get a kick out of these :)

Lynn & Ray

What a day we had on Lynn and Dave's wedding. Even with the temperature in the mid 90's, this was one cool couple. We started at the Holiday Inn in Tinton Falls where Ray saw Lynn for the first time. After a quick 15 minute photo shoot, both families and the entire bridal party went over to Franklin Lake for the formals. From there we hit the beach at Seven Presidents in Long Branch. With a nice breeze blowing, we had an incrediable beach session. The clouds were perfect for my b&w infra-red camera. By 6pm we were at the Water's Edge in Sea Bright for a picture perfect beach ceremony. Jenelle and I had an incredible day, as you can see from the slide show. Check it out!

Meg and Rob

Some of our blog stalkers may remember Meg and Rob from their engagement session last November (here!) but for those of you who don't stalk us, a little background. Rob grew up around the same area as Marissa and Vanessa and when his fiance Megan met the Heyn Girls she knew she had to have us for her wedding. Like some other brides, she began to check out the blog with some regularity to find out what new shots we were trying, keeping tabs on how we ran a day via the slideshows...and when it came to getting those shots taken, Megan was all ears on how to do it.

"You're in charge!" She kept saying over and over and we took advantage! Get on the bed, get off the bed, get on the floor, get in front of the mirror, tilt your head and SMILE that gorgeous smile of yours :)

The videographer said he'd never seen a bride do quite so many contortions for her getting ready shots, but Meg felt it was well worth it... later on we crossed the PA border and had the pleasure of shooting at the beautiful Pen Ryn Mansion right on the Delaware! Their front lawn may seem endless but trecking through it to be river-side on the Delaware was worth it!

Meg, outside it may have been hot but you were sizzlin'!

Gotta Love Happy Brides!!

Its been quite the weekend here at the studio, what with John's annual Tiki Party (always hard to manuever it in around the weddings!) and the numerous jobs we've been working on. Sometimes you get so busy posting the slideshows and editting the proofs that you forget what you've looked at a thousand times is new and exciting to the brides that see them... then you get heartwarming emails from them which remind you of that fact.

Two of our brides, Lisa McDonough (nee Goode) and Amy Landosky (nee Tegethoff) got back to us with some really sweet feedback...and they haven't even seen the proofs yet! Ladies, both of you, this is the start of a great photographic relationship :o)

Hi John!!

We have finally returned from our honeymoon and we were absolutely speechless when we saw our AMAZING slide show. We cannot believe how beautiful our pictures are! I can't believe that's me in all of those pictures! We cannot wait to see our proofs.

I would like to now take the time to thank you, Marissa, and Cara for your EXCELLENT work on our wedding day. All 3 of you were a joy to have along for the ride and your professionalism kept us all on track and on time. I cannot tell you how many friends and relatives have seen the slide show and are flabbergasted at the pictures. Thank you for making our "after the wedding" experience fun and exciting!

Please let me know when and where the proofs will be available!

Love, Lisa McDonough

Okay so I love pictures. We left for our honeymoon on the 6th and I didn’t to see any pictures before we left. After we got to Mexico I tried to use Matt's playstation portable to check the pictures. It didn't have enough memory but I was able to see the three on the main page, I couldn't wait to get home to see the rest of them. So at 4am when we got home from the airport I finally got to see them. I love them! I can't wait to see all of them. Thank so much. I had just a great time.

All You Need is Love!

Sometimes when you check your email, its really boring. There's spam...there's advertisements. But sometimes you get the pleasure of hearing back from your brides :) In some cases, your brides repeatedly thank you for their photos which really drives home how genuinely they appreciate your work. This was the story with Lisa, who sent us two separate emails, once before she saw her proofs and once after :)

Lisa: Thank you for showing us some L-O-V-E and you're more than welcome for your pictures!!

Hi John, Marissa and Cara,

The pictures are amazing!!! You really got so many great shots. We love the photo-journalistic shots because it tells a story. You were able to capture some really great moments. Thank you so much for your hard work, you really did an outstanding job. We will cherish these pictures for the rest of our lives.

Amy & Matt

Amy and Matt were married on probably one of the most favorite summer holidays, July 5. Like other brides this season we were lucky to have a great connection to Amy. Amy was a past student of John’s. We also had the opportunity to shoot two of her best friend’s weddings in the past as well. Amy was amazing; she was truly enjoying her day and had a way to get everyone to smile with just one look. We also have to recognize Amy’s father who did a terrific job with a newly broken foot. His injury did not stop him from walking his little girl down the aisle or dancing with her. It was really touching to see his effort to help make Amy and Matt’s day go as planned!

The bride and groom wanted to take pictures at Monmouth University which is always a perfect setting for regal images. Of course this didn’t stop us from mixing it up a little as well. The whole bridal party went upstairs of the mansion to take Arial shots even though it felt like one hundred degrees to them. Or revisiting their school days as they waited patiently for the bride and groom and were photographed as if they were in detention...lol! As always we stopped by the beach to do some more fun stuff with the bridal party and some romantic beach images with the bride and groom.

The reception was at The Channel Club, with its beautiful ballroom and stunning dockside we decided to take the couple out again for some sunset shots. It’s hard to resist the docks at The Channel Club; it makes you feel like your somewhere in Key West and not New Jersey. This couple was great to work with; we enjoyed working with them and getting to photograph their very obvious love for each other!

Brendan and Renee

Renee and Brendan were married on a beautiful sunny hot day! It was a perfect wedding at the Jersey Shore. We started at the house with Renee who was literally the blushing bride. She was ecstatic to start her day and take many pictures especially with her beloved cat. Renee was awesome; she was up for anything including posing on the floor in her wedding dress, for the perfect picture. Then Brendan came to see his bride for the first time. It’s always a treat to be apart of the special split second of first sight!

Then we were off to Beautiful Spring Lake where we even found a new perfect discrete location that puts you basically on the lake itself. It’s a private and romantic area which is a perfect setting for wedding images! To continue with our Jersey Shore wedding we stopped at the beach where the bride and groom were all about going on the sand even though it was burning their feet. Brendan picked up his bride and twirled her around as if no one else was their, even though there was a large crowd of on lookers sun bathing on the beach.

The ceremony and reception were at the beautiful Mill in Spring Lake where the two were married in front of all their loved ones under gorgeous blue skies. They continued to dance the afternoon away at the reception and even a few happy tears were shed by the bride and the happy families. We wish them all the best in their new lives together!
